Due to weather conditions this morning, Dance at Rushford-Peterson has been postponed. Varsity Wrestling at Western Dubuque has been cancelled and JV Wrestling at Chatfield has been cancelled. Varsity will wrestle at La Crosse Logan today instead.
Due to inclement weather, Houston Public Schools will be dismissing early today, Friday, December 10. Houston Elementary School will be dismissed at 12:30PM. Houston High School will be dismissed at 12:45PM.
The girls basketball season is underway with their first practice yesterday! We are looking forward to a great season. Just a reminder that all home games, both boys and girls basketball, will be live streamed this year. HHS Athletics update:
JV football at Kingsland has been cancelled for today. Also, tomorrow's home volleyball game against Spring Grove has been postponed. Girls will travel to Mabel-Canton instead. Game times are 5PM/6PM/7:15PM

The 3rd grade classes took a walk to Valley View Nursing Home and Heritage Court while Fool’s Spring was looming! They brough a little magic with them in the form of colored bubbles to blow in the wind. The students enjoyed singing and dancing for some of the residents and had a wonderful time visiting. The students were greeted with loving smiles on the other side of the windows.
Houston School Board Selects New Superintendent
At a special board meeting on April 15, the Houston Public Schools School Board voted to select Mary Morem, Principal, Triton Public Schools as the district’s new superintendent.
“The consensus was that Mary has the qualifications and skills to move the school district forward. We feel she will come into the position with an open mind, ready to listen, and committed to leading the District forward, and we are excited to work with her,” said Tom Stilin, Board Chair.
The School Board will commence contract negotiations immediately, and a contract is expected to be approved by the School Board at an April 22 special school board meeting.
The pending start date for the new superintendent will be July 1, 2021.
